CoMET stands for Compassion-oriented and Mindfulness-based Exposure Therapy.
It is an evidence-based intervention developed through psychological research and grounded in trauma-informed care to specifically support individuals experiencing Posttraumatic Stress Symptoms.
CoMET is a group program, designed to meet weekly for 8 weeks; 2 hours per session.
Upon referral, you will be booked in for an Initial Assessment Session - this session will allow the psychologist to obtain background information & to determine suitability for CoMET Group Program.
If not found suitable for CoMET, you are welcome to continue Individual Therapy with a clinician at our practice.
If found suitable, you will be invited to commence CoMET Group Program (8 weeks; 2 hours per session).

CoMET provides a safe environment where your experiences are honoured and your pace is respected.
CoMET focuses on helping you develop practical tools to manage daily challenges, aiming to support a shift from "survival mode" towards improved wellbeing.
Medicare rebates are available for this program. To be eligible, you must have a valid GP Mental Health Treatment Plan with a referral specifically requesting : "1 individual session (Intake/Assessment) and "8 sessions Long-duration Group Psychological Therapy".
According to the Medicare Schedule Benefits - "In addition to the 10 individual services, a patient can be referred up to a maximum of 10 group therapy mental health treatment services each calendar year on any one referral."
What this means:
These group sessions are separate from your individual sessions provided under your Mental Health Treatment Plan.
Participating in this group will not affect your ability to see your regular therapist, and you can receive a Medicare rebate for both group therapy programs and individual counselling in the same calendar year.
